FEEDBACK
REFLECTIVE REPORT
For Task 1 Research Proposal, I used four weeks time to complete it. I consulted Miss Anis and she gave me a lot of helpful feedback which helps me a lot. I was very panicked with this module at first because I didn’t know what to do and how to start with the task. I did some research on UI/UX and found some research topics that are interesting. After deciding which topic to begin Task 1, I did some research about minimalist web design. I finally decided “Explore the Impact of Minimalist Web Design on User Engagement” as my research topic. The proposal aimed to investigate how minimalist design influences user engagement compared to more complex web designs. The process of developing the research proposal required a deep dive into existing literature to understand the current state of minimalist web design and its effects on user engagement. This involved identifying gaps in the research and formulating research questions and objectives that would guide my study. I learned the importance of clearly defining the research findings. Miss Anis praised my research proposal as a well dome proposal. Her compliment made me more confident and clear about what to do with the task. I started Task 2 and did secondary research based on my research topic. Task 2 took me three weeks time to complete. Task 2 is much tougher as I need to read a few articles and case studies related to my research topic and conclude the research problem, strengths and weaknesses, methodology, discussion and conclusion of the articles. Through this task, I honed my skills in critical thinking and analysis. The third task focused on methods for data collection and data analysis. I started to work on Task 3 from week 9 to week 12. I did some research about research methodology. I found a survey an effective way to gather data from a large number of participants, providing a broad understanding of user engagement with minimalist web designs. I designed the survey questions using Google forms and set at least 80 respondents as my target for the survey. It was challenging to collect a large amount of response. I shared my survey link to my friends and relatives. I also used online platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram to share my survey link for followers to fill up. Designing the survey required careful consideration of the questions to ensure respondents were clear and capable of eliciting meaningful responses. I learned the importance of pilot testing the survey to identify any issues and make necessary adjustments before the final distribution.
Overall, the journey from week 1 to week 14 was transformative. The course provided a structured approach, from developing a research proposal to conducting secondary research and collecting primary data. Each task built on the previous one, enhancing my research skills. I learned the importance of clear research objectives and research problem can influence the result and outcome of all tasks. This course has equipped me with comprehensive design research methodology, contributing significantly to my future research projects.
